PEX 2025: Peruvians’ abroad recognition day

A SUMMARY OF THIS PROJECT

This documentary follows Chef Juan Chipoco during his return to Lima, Peru, in recognition of Peruanos del Exterior 2025 — an honor awarded to Peruvians whose work abroad has made a significant cultural and social impact.

Shot over the course of a full day in Lima, the film captures moments surrounding the ceremony, behind-the-scenes interactions, and candid reflections as Chef Chipoco receives multiple recognitions for his contributions to Peruvian culture and gastronomy beyond national borders. The narrative is reinforced through interviews with Peruvian government officials, including members of Congress and the Minister of Tourism, lending institutional context and national significance to the event.

More than a profile, the documentary serves as a cultural portrait — following movement through the city, public moments of recognition, and quiet personal reflection. The result is a long-form piece that blends storytelling, place, and authority, offering an intimate look at how identity, legacy, and cultural representation intersect on an international stage.
